Tangerine Monday Weaving Co
Welcome!
My name is Sharee and I'm an artisan weaver and dyer living in the beautiful bayside area of Brisbane, Australia. I love the tactile nature of weaving — the winding of the yarn, the throwing of the shuttle, and the thrill of unrolling a finished piece from the loom. The feel of a handwoven piece in your hands is something simple and sublime.
For me, slow fashion isn't just a trend — it's a commitment to making things that are built to last, kind to the planet, and worth cherishing. In a world of fast, disposable clothing, an artisan handwoven piece is something truly different: made with intention, worn with joy, and kept for a lifetime.
Now, let me show you what's on the loom.
I love…
Beautiful yarns
It all starts with beautiful yarn and my favourite fibre of all is silk. Soft, light as a feather, and with a luminous sheen, silk blended with other fibres opens up a world of texture and possibility.
All of my yarns and fibres are sourced from Australian small businesses — people who share my commitment to quality, sustainability, and craftsmanship. Some are handspun by me right here in Brisbane.
Glorious colours
I have always loved colour and the endless possibilities that come from playing with different combinations. My colour palettes are inspired by the world around me — the natural environment, photographs I have taken, and artworks that have caught my eye.
I dye my yarns using Ashford acid dyes, fixed with nothing more than white vinegar and heat. They comply with Oeko-Tex Standard 100, the internationally recognised certification for ecologically safe textiles.
Random stripes
I am drawn to random stripes for the freedom they give me — to play with colour and texture, to explore stark contrasts and subtle shifts of light and dark. I believe it's important for us as adults to hold onto a sense of playfulness, and weaving gives me the perfect space to keep experimenting, trying new combinations, and surprising myself.
Many of my pieces include special additions woven into the cloth — silk ribbons, handspun yarns, strips of interesting fabric. Each one carries a memory of where and when I found it, giving every piece its own quiet story.
And practically speaking, random stripes are wonderfully wearable. They sit beautifully against plain outfits and have a way of pulling a whole look together effortlessly.
